Tranforming Rotterdam’s back alleys with a temporary installation for the MOMO Festival.
For the MOMO Festival, our goal was to design a waypoint that guided visitors through Rotterdam’s scattered stages.
Using Google Maps, we identified the predictable routes newcomers would take between festival venues.

Along these routes, we discovered interconnected back alleys with roofed entrances.
An inflatable structure, both eye-catching and quick to install,
could encourage visitors to detour and activate these overlooked spaces.
We developed the design through hands-on experiments.
Our final design featured interconnected arches made from plastic bags ironed together. Segment templates were generated from a 3D model.
Using two air blowers, this lightweight design could easily be transported and set up in different locations.
