A HAND CAPSULE

Indvidual Project
October 2020

Encapsulating the human form using only cardboard.

As the first assignment of my bachelor, I was challenged to create a space in which one could sit, stand or lay down in, using only cardboard.

The design of the hand capsule came from experimenting with carboard and creating a 1:10 scale model.

I scaled up the marquette to fit a person inside, adding supports to carry the weight of the cardboard.

Because the university was inaccessable during the corona pandemic, I built the capsule in my hometown in Norway, using the fjord as a backdrop to my creation.

Imagining the capsule one scale larger as a pavilion, I digitised the design.
